Pope Francis, who is in the hospital with bilateral pneumonia, is in stable condition. Blood tests show a slight improvement in some parameters, the Holy See press service said in a statement.
“After breakfast, the pontiff read the newspapers, then worked with his closest aides, and also received Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, with whom he had a private meeting that lasted about 20 minutes,” the statement said.
The 88-year-old pontiff has been in the hospital since February 14. He was diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia the day before. Doctors are speaking of a “complex clinical picture.”
