The United States has stopped processing immigration applications from Ukrainians in the country.

According to CBS News, the “Unity for Ukraine” initiative, designed to support Ukrainian refugees, is among the programs affected by the restrictions. Thanks to it, about 240 thousand Ukrainians immigrated to the United States before Donald Trump came to power.

As CBS News notes, the decision applies to people who already live in the United States and have applied for immigration benefits, which will allow them to stay there legally.

The freeze is indefinite while officials work to identify possible fraud and improve verification procedures.
