White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt said on Fox News that the US-Russia talks in Riyadh were the first but a “historic step” to peace in Ukraine.
“This is truly a historic step towards peace in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine,” she said, emphasizing that the US administration is in contact with the Ukrainian leadership and European allies, seeking to “hear the views of all sides.”
According to her, talking to both sides of the conflict is necessary to negotiate a deal and resolve the issue.
