Kremlin offered Trump access to Arctic resources

The Kremlin has offered the Donald Trump administration a deal on Russian natural resources. The Moscow Times reports.

Russia believes American oil companies can return to Russia and is interested in joint projects with the United States in the Arctic. Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, said before the start of negotiations in Saudi Arabia.

“We should also implement joint projects, including, for example, in the Arctic. Joint projects will allow us to be more successful,” Dmitriev said.

According to him, American companies have lost $ 300 billion from sanctions against Russia.

In its strategy for developing the mineral resource base, the Russian government has recognized its dependence on imported equipment for mineral extraction and exploration. Imported equipment accounts for more than 90% of drilling equipment, 50% of mining machinery, and 30% of surface geophysical equipment.
