Russian-American talks will not affect cooperation with Iran

The start of Russian-American talks will not impact Russian-Iranian cooperation, the press secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov stated in an interview with the IRNA agency.

"Moscow values good relations and partnership with Iran and intends to comprehensively develop them, including by helping to resolve such important issues as the nuclear program. The cooperation process between Moscow and Tehran is not connected with the direction of Russian-American relations," Peskov said.

According to him, the Iranian nuclear program was discussed during the phone conversation between Putin and Trump. However, the main topic was restoring Russian-American relations. He expressed confidence that the issue of Iran's nuclear program can be resolved diplomatically between the interested parties.
