US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that all those involved in the Ukrainian conflict must be in a good mood for a successful resolution to end the problem.
He said that the meeting with Russian officials in Riyadh is the first step on a long and challenging path, the goal of which is a just and sustainable end to the war in Ukraine.
“The EU will be involved in this process at some point. No one will be left out,” he stressed.
The Secretary of State said the US and Russia have agreed to restore embassy staffing.
“The actions taken over the past few years have reduced the capacity of diplomatic missions in both countries.
We need to have viable diplomatic missions that can function normally to continue to work through these channels,” he added.
