Christoph Heusgen, president of the Munich Security Conference (MSC), called the conference that ended this weekend the “most significant” of all the previous conferences.
“At the same time, MSC-2025 was in a sense a nightmare for Europeans,” he said on German television channel ZDF, referring to the speeches of representatives of the administration of new US President Donald Trump.
“This conference clarified a lot and showed that America under Trump lives on another planet,” Heusgen said in his closing speech. According to him, after the speech of US Vice President J.D. Vance at the conference, concerns arose “that our common values are no longer common.”
