UK ready to send peacekeepers to Ukraine

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has said he is prepared to send troops to Ukraine as part of a possible post-war peacekeeping force. He said the UK wants to show the US that European countries should play an active role in peace talks in Ukraine.

I have not taken this decision lightly, as it involves putting British soldiers at risk. But securing lasting peace in Ukraine is essential to deterring further aggression by Russian President Vladimir Putin,” he said.

On Sunday, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Ukraine and Europe must engage in “real talks” with Moscow. He said talks planned between the US and Russia this week would allow us to discover how serious Putin is about peace.

When this war is over, it must not just be a temporary pause before Putin attacks again,” Starmer wrote in the Daily Telegraph.
