US Vice President J.D. Vance has canceled a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the Munich Security Conference. Instead, he will meet and talk with chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz, Politico reports, citing sources.
Vance's team said the meeting was scheduled but was canceled due to scheduling conflicts with the German side.
"The leaders of the two countries held discussions to hold an additional meeting in Munich, but unfortunately, that meeting never materialized due to scheduling conflicts," Scholz's spokesman, William Martin, said in a statement.
