"Only the President of Ukraine can negotiate with Russia on behalf of his country." Macron

French President Emmanuel Macron said that only Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky can negotiate with Russia on his country’s behalf to end the war. In an interview with the Financial Times, the French president warned that “peace, if it takes the form of capitulation, would be bad news for everyone,” including the United States.

He called Donald Trump’s return to the White House an “electric shock” that should force Europe and Ukraine to secure their futures.

“The only question at this stage is whether President Putin is ready to agree sincerely, sustainably, and reliably to a ceasefire. After that, the Ukrainians must negotiate with Russia,” Macron said.
