Today marks the 20th anniversary of the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
It should be recalled that the assassination was organized by the former Syrian government, Bashar al-Assad, and carried out in Lebanon through the Hezbollah organization. His assassination took place in Beirut as a result of a powerful roadside bomb explosion. More than 20 people were killed in the terrorist act.
Hariri served as Lebanon's Prime Minister from 1992 to 1998 and 2000 to 2004.
