The diplomatic posture and vocabulary of Jordanian King Abdullah II during his meeting with Donald Trump have been widely reported.
The king arrived in the United States to discuss not only bilateral issues but also his initiative regarding the settlement of the Gaza Strip with Trump.
Abdullah chose not to speak much to the press, but when asked, his speech was cautious and to the point.
Asked whether Jordan would accept Palestinians displaced from Gaza, the Jordanian leader said he would do what was “best” for his country.
In a post on social media after the meeting, he declared that Jordan was “unwavering in its position against the movement of Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank.”
He added that Arab states would develop their plan for Gaza, which would be presented after it was finalized. He also flattered Trump, saying, “Finally, I see someone who can take us to the finish line so that there is stability, peace, and prosperity in the region for all of us.”
