EU-Armenia relations have never been closer. European Commission

The European Commission told the Russian Izvestia that the process of rapprochement with the European Union is gaining momentum, but Armenia has not yet submitted an official application for membership.

"The ongoing discussions in Armenia demonstrate the attractiveness of the European Union and its values. EU-Armenia relations have never been closer than now. The launch of the dialogue on visa liberalization and the support of 10 million euros within the framework of the European Peace Facility have shown this," the statement said.

Brussels also promised to discuss the draft law on European integration with Armenian partners. Although the issue of EU membership is not yet on the agenda legally, Armenia is already moving towards a deeper partnership with the union.

Brussels also recalled that the EU has increased financial assistance by 270 million euros for 2024-2027 through the "Stability and Growth for Armenia" program. This program aims to strengthen the country's socio-economic stability and develop trade, transport connections, and energy security.

"At the same time, active work is already underway within the framework of a comprehensive and enhanced partnership agreement, which allows Armenia to approach EU norms," the European Commission announced.
