Macron responded to Trump

French President Emmanuel Macron is convinced that the United States' imposition of tariffs on EU goods could damage the American economy and cause inflation.

In an interview with CNN, Macron urged Washington to focus on China's resilience, the Middle East crisis, and the war in Ukraine instead of unleashing a trade war with the EU.

"Europe is your ally, and if you want Europe to be more involved in investment and defense and security issues, if you hope for development that is in the interests of the United States, you should not harm the European economy by threatening it with tariffs," the French president stressed.

US President Donald Trump threatened the European Union with tariffs earlier, citing the need to reduce the trade deficit with Europe.
