French media reported that a two-day summit on artificial intelligence will kick off in Paris on Monday. Political and technological leaders will seek common ground on a technology that could have a major impact on global business and society.
French President Emmanuel Macron and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted the meeting. The summit’s main goals are to develop and map out mechanisms for global regulation of AI, promote more ethical, accessible, and effective use of the technology, and strengthen Europe’s sovereignty in the field of AI.
Participants include high-ranking political figures, including US Vice President J. D. Vance and Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing. They will meet with technology leaders, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Google CEO Sundar Pichai.
