Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia will be permanently disconnected from the Russian energy system.

Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia will be permanently disconnected from the Russian energy system tomorrow. Kaja Kallas, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, wrote about this on the “X” social network.

“Russia will no longer be able to use energy resources as a blackmail tool. This is a victory for the freedom and unity of Europe,” Kallas wrote.

Recall that the Baltic countries—Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania—are disconnecting from the electricity systems of neighboring Russia and Belarus and connecting to the European Union system.

“This is a physical disconnection from the last element of our dependence on the energy system of Russia and Belarus,” Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said in an interview with the Associated Press.
