The Wall Street Journal writes that the Ukrainian Armed Forces need ten times more infantry to stop the Russian offensive in the Pokrovsky region.
Officers of the Ukrainian army fighting in the east of the country told the newspaper this. One of them stated that the Russian Armed Forces in the Pokrovsky region outnumber the Ukrainian armed forces fivefold.
At the same time, the Ukrainian infantry is staffed with elderly soldiers who were recently drafted and lack experience and motivation.
The abundance of drones is slowing the Russian army's advance, although they cannot wholly replace the workforce.
