Hajizadeh announced that the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry had notified the United States to terminate USAID's activities in the country.
The document states that USAID has no legal basis for operating in Azerbaijan and is terminating its activities there.
On January 16, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Bayramov announced at a joint press conference with his Georgian counterpart Bochorishvili that USAID's activities in Azerbaijan should be terminated since the organization promotes the interests of the United States more than Azerbaijan.
He emphasized that, as of July 1, 2024, USAID's presence in the country has become de jure impossible.
