CIA temporarily suspends hiring of new employees

The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) offers employees severance packages as it faces layoffs.

At the same time, the CIA has also temporarily suspended hiring new employees, including those who have already been offered jobs, pending background checks.

According to the New York Times, the CIA sent the White House an unencrypted email containing a list of all employees hired by the agency in the past two years as part of the layoffs. These employees have not yet completed their probationary periods, making it easier to fire them. For CIA agents and analysts, probation can last up to four years. However, Reuters reports that the White House has only requested the names of employees who have worked for less than two years.
