Argentina is withdrawing from the WTO

Presidential spokesman Manuel Adorni told reporters that Argentina is following the United States in withdrawing from the World Health Organization.

“Milley has ordered the suspension of Argentina’s membership in the World Health Organization, whose work has caused deep disagreements regarding the management of the health system, especially during the pandemic.

We Argentines will not allow an international organization to interfere in our sovereignty, especially our health,” Adorni said.

He added that Argentina does not receive funding from the WHO, so withdrawing from the organization will not lead to a loss of funds for the country and will not affect the quality of services.

US President Donald Trump signed an order earlier on the country’s withdrawal from the WHO. The new administration believes that the WHO is ineffective, under political influence, and requires excessive funding from the United States.
