"We will transform our geography into a region of peace." Erdogan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa's talks ended in Ankara, after which the presidents held a joint press conference.

Erdogan noted in his speech that "Turkey did not abandon the Syrian people in their most desperate and difficult days, and Ankara will provide them with the necessary support in the new period."

"The basis of Turkey's policy towards neighboring Syria has always been the preservation of the territorial integrity and unity of this country. He said that Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa's visit began a period of continuous friendship and cooperation," he said.

According to Erdogan, the parties discussed joint steps to establish security and economic stability in Syria.

"By acting in solidarity, we will transform our common geography into a region of peace and trust, without terrorism," the Turkish president emphasized.

He expressed his readiness to provide Syria with the necessary support in the fight against all forms of terrorism.

Erdogan also noted that Turkey is ready to support the reconstruction of Syria's destroyed cities. As economic development accelerates, the voluntary return of the population will also gain momentum.

The Turkish president commented on the negotiations' results: "We are developing our relations with Syria in all areas, from trade to civil aviation, energy, healthcare, and education."

The Syrian president expressed gratitude to the Turkish government and people for the support they have provided during the years of fighting against the regime. He assured that relations between Syria and Turkey will be raised to a new level.

Ahmed al-Sharaa said, "We are ready to transform our relations with Turkey into a deep strategic partnership. "

The Syrian president called on the international community to put pressure on Israel regarding the territories of the country under Israeli occupation.

"The international community must pressure Israel to return to the 1974 borders," he said.
