The newly created US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by tech billionaire Elon Musk, has targeted the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and took steps over the weekend to take control of the agency.
Senior congressional sources told Fox News that over 50 USAID employees have been placed on administrative leave. They are not allowed to communicate with anyone outside the agency without permission.
The newspaper also reported that signs have been removed from the agency’s headquarters in the Reagan Center in Washington. Musk’s administration has also taken control of the agency’s computer systems.
It should be noted that, according to the Congressional Research Service, the agency managed about $40 billion in allocations last year.
