US President Donald Trump on Saturday ordered airstrikes in Somalia against a group of Islamic State (ISIS) members hiding in the country, Reuters reported.
“These killers, who were hiding in caves, were threatening the United States and our allies. The airstrikes destroyed their habitats and killed many terrorists without harming civilians,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
The strikes were carried out in Somalia’s Golis Mountains.
Reuters reports that an official in the Somali presidential office confirmed the strikes and noted that the country’s government welcomed the move. “Somalia cannot be a haven for terrorists,” he said.
