Plane collides with military helicopter in US

An American Airlines plane carrying 64 people crashed into a military helicopter near Reagan National Airport in Washington, APnews reports.

According to preliminary data, 60 passengers and 4 crew members were on board the passenger plane, and 4 people were on board the helicopter. There are no reports of injuries yet. All takeoffs and landings from the airport near Washington have been suspended, as law enforcement helicopters are currently circling the scene to search for survivors.

President Donald Trump has also been informed of the incident.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the mid-air collision occurred at approximately 9 p.m. when a regional plane traveling from Wichita to Kansas collided with a military Blackhawk helicopter as it approached the runway.
