US President Donald Trump has said he would prefer not to impose tariffs on China.
Trump said he could make a deal with America's most significant economic rival because "we have what they need: a pot of gold."
"We have a great advantage over China regarding tariffs, but I prefer not to use them. But it is a great power over China," he said in an interview with Fox News.
After taking office, Trump announced that 10% tariffs could be imposed on imported Chinese goods by February 1.
