The North Atlantic Alliance Secretary General has promised not to consider the Kremlin's position on Ukraine's accession to NATO.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has stated that he does not want to make Ukraine's membership in the defense alliance dependent on Moscow's position.
"We must make it clear that Vladimir Putin does not have a veto and cannot influence future NATO membership," Rutte said on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
At the same time, the NATO Secretary General called for more significant support for Ukraine; according to him, Russia mustn't win the war.
"We need to increase our commitment to Ukraine, not withdraw. The front line is moving in the wrong direction," Rutte said.
