3 people were arrested on suspicion of arson in Los Angeles

CBS News reports that the Los Angeles Police Department has arrested three people for arson outside the recent wildfire zones.

According to Police Chief Jim McDonnell, the arrests were made after local residents called about arson incidents outside of the Palisades and Eaton fire areas.

On Sunday evening, a person was arrested in the neighborhoods of North Hollywood for setting fire to the area with a barbecue lighter. The second arrest took place on Monday afternoon on Van Nuys Boulevard, where a man set fire to bushes. A third person was arrested the same day, near San Vicente Boulevard, for setting fire to a trash can.

Authorities have imposed a curfew and called in the National Guard to prevent looting and theft while residents remain evacuated. The Los Angeles Police Department arrested 14 people, while the Sheriff's Department made 39 arrests.
