Kyiv offered Pyongyang a prisoner exchange deal

The President of Ukraine is ready to hand over captured North Korean soldiers to Pyongyang in exchange for the return of Ukrainian prisoners of war held in Russia, Volodymyr Zelensky said in a video message on Sunday evening.

The announcement came after the Security Service of Ukraine announced the capture of two DRC soldiers in the Kursk region on Saturday.

"The security service of Ukraine continues to work with prisoners of war from North Korea. One expressed his desire to stay in Ukraine, and the second to return to Korea. If Kim Jong-un at least remembers about those citizens of his and can organize an exchange with our soldiers kept in Russia, we are ready to hand over such soldiers. Undoubtedly, there will be more North Korean prisoners of war," said Zelensky.
