French President Emmanuel Macron warned that there will be "no quick and easy solution" to the situation in Ukraine. He noted that the new US President, Donald Trump, promised to promote the conflict's settlement actively. Still, he said that Ukraine's defeat would be unacceptable not only to Europeans but also to Americans.
According to Macron, if the West agrees to any "compromise," it could have a bad effect on his reputation because accepting any agreement due to the "fatigue" of the conflict would lead to an unacceptable result.
He also noted that Ukraine's representatives will have to start "realistic discussions" on territorial issues because only they can offer real solutions. The French president added that the US should support the change in the situation and convince Russia to sit at the negotiating table. Europe must provide security guarantees for Ukraine, and this will be their main responsibility.
