The Slovak government is dissatisfied with Ukraine's decision to stop the transit of Russian gas to Europe. Prime Minister Robert Fico announced that he would consider limiting aid to Ukrainians in Slovakia and repeated the threat that Slovakia may cut off Ukraine's electricity supplies.
Kyiv refused to renew the gas transit contract with Russia's Gazprom. The contract continued to operate even during the war and expired at the end of the year. Ukraine's neighbor, Slovakia, is one of the affected countries.
