Asma Asad is on the verge of death. The Telegraph

Asma Assad, the wife of former Syrian President Bashar Assad, is in critical condition. According to the British newspaper The Telegraph, a 49-year-old woman was diagnosed with an aggressive form of acute myeloid leukemia.

As the journalists claim, doctors assess her chances of survival as 50-50. Asma is now in isolation to avoid infections that could worsen her condition.

As of May 2023, Asma is known to be suffering from a recurrence of a disease that was previously in remission. Her father, famous cardiologist Fawaz Ahras, takes care of her in Moscow, where the family moved after the fall of the regime in Syria. Before that, the woman was receiving treatment in the United Arab Emirates.
