Georgia's president, Salome Zurabishvili, threatened the authorities with the "fall of the regime" if the ruling party does not schedule new parliamentary elections by December 29.
"The regime overthrow is an alternative to dialogue, compromises, and concessions. If not, the regime will fall," she said in a video message.
The Georgian president announced the creation of a council under her leadership, which should prepare the country for new elections.
"After the meeting with the opposition parties, a document is being prepared to describe all the minimum conditions necessary for holding new elections soon," Zurabishvili said.
At the same time, she assured that she would remain president even after her term of office expires on December 29.
