Mourning has been declared in Germany

The head of Germany's Ministry of Internal Affairs, Nancy Faeser, announced mourning for the victims of the terrorist attack in Magdeburg on Friday; all flags on the buildings of the highest authorities will be lowered, the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement.

Earlier, it became known that the number of victims had reached 5, and more than 200 were injured as a result of the collision of visitors to the Magdeburg Christmas fair.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also visited the site of the tragedy. He expressed his condolences to the victim's relatives and thanked the emergency services.

Remember that on Friday evening, the car crashed into the crowd at the Magdeburg Christmas fair. Police believe the hit-and-run was carried out by a 50-year-old Saudi man who acted alone, according to the Süddeutsche Zeitung newspaper, who was identified as a refugee in July 2016. He also has a residence permit in Germany.
