The Trump-backed budget plan has failed

Reuters reports that the budget project supported by Donald Trump failed in the US House of Representatives, as dozens of Republicans opposed the president-elect's demands.

The vote revealed internal divisions in Donald Trump's Republican Party, which could resurface as Republicans take control of both the White House and both houses of Congress.

Trump has been trying to get lawmakers to approve the budget document before he takes office on Jan. 20. However, several members of the conservative wing of the party have refused to support the bill, criticizing it as an initiative that would increase spending and the federal debt, which has already reached $36 trillion.
