The newly elected US President Donald Trump has announced that he knows the presidents of Ukraine and Russia well and will try to reach a peace agreement to end the war. He emphasized that both leaders should be ready for a deal.
Trump said that he is currently trying to stop the war. "This terrible war is going on in Ukraine. People are being killed on such a scale that no one has ever seen," he said, stressing, "We are trying to stop the terrible war in Ukraine."
Trump did not elaborate on what agreements have been negotiated with countries to end the war unleashed by Russia but emphasized that a solution must be found. He also referred to the cities without buildings, noting that "people cannot return to those ruins."
