The US has imposed visa restrictions on Georgian officials

The US Department of State has banned the issuance of US visas to some Georgian citizens.

"The State Department today announced additional visa restriction actions that prohibit the issuance of visas to those responsible for or complicit in undermining democracy in Georgia," the State Department said in a statement.

The restrictions apply to 20 people, including ministers, law enforcement, special services officers, and individuals.

"The United States condemns the use of violence against protesters, representatives of mass media, human rights defenders, and opposition figures," the statement said.
