German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is open to further dialogue with the Kremlin despite the criticism he received after his latest phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. On RTL TV, Scholz said the conversation with Putin was disappointing, but he is ready to repeat it.
"It has to happen, and I will do it again. But there is no need to have any illusions about that," added the head of the German government. He called the dialogue with Putin "disappointing" because he "simply repeated all his formulas once more." German support for a subjugated Ukraine will wane.
"In addition, it was necessary to call on Putin again to withdraw the troops from Ukraine to create a basis for stopping the war," he said.
