The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation commented on the situation in Syria.
"We are following the dramatic events in Syria with extreme concern."
The department noted that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad left the post of president in Syria after negotiations with several participants in the Syrian conflict.
He gave instructions for the peaceful transfer of power. Russia did not participate in the negotiations."
The Russian Foreign Ministry also stated that the Russian military bases in Syria are on high alert. The department added that, at the moment, there is no serious threat to the security of Russian military bases in Syria.
