Assad's opponents have captured strategic areas in Homs

On the morning of December 6, groups opposed to Bashar Assad's regime captured the strategically important Rastan and Telbis regions of Homs province, opening the way to the capital, Damascus.

The rebels, led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham group, are successfully advancing their offensive in Homs province. Earlier, they took control of the center of the city of Hama in the region of the same name.

Rastan and Telbis are located on Syria's strategic M5 highway, which connects the Aleppo, Hama, and Homs regions and reaches Damascus.
