India refuses Russian weapons. Bloomberg

Officials told Bloomberg that India has sharply reduced orders for defense equipment from Russia and shifted its focus to Western suppliers. This marks a significant shift in policy for a country that has traditionally relied on arms from Moscow.

According to senior Indian officials, plans for the joint development and production of helicopters and modern fighter jets have been delayed. The share of Russian arms in Indian imports has fallen from 76 percent in 2009 to 36 percent.

According to experts, two factors are pushing India away from Russia: disruptions in the supply of weapons due to the war in Ukraine and the growing dependence of the Russian military-industrial complex on Chinese components.
