According to The Wall Street Journal, US president-elect Donald Trump is considering Ron DeSantis, the candidate for the governor of Florida and former US president, for the position of head of the Pentagon.
Former Fox News anchor Pete Hegsett was previously slated for the post, but his candidacy has sparked concerns over his privacy and suspected extremism.
DeSantis is now in the early stages of consideration, and other contenders include former Defense Department official Elbridge Colby and Sen. Joni Ernst.
Florida Governor and former presidential candidate Ron DeSantis previously opposed Ukraine's NATO membership, saying it was not in US security interests.
