Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder said US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin spoke with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov on the telephone.
According to Ryder, Washington will provide Kyiv with "significant additional security assistance, which will include key capabilities to support Ukraine's most pressing needs on the battlefield, including air defense assets, missile system munitions, artillery, and anti-tank weapons."
A press release posted on the Pentagon's website states that during the conversation with Umerov, Austin "condemned Russia's recent barrage of missiles and drones targeting civilian infrastructure in Ukraine and the use of an intermediate-range ballistic missile (Oreshnik) in Ukraine."
