A quick end to the war in Ukraine without territorial losses is not realistic. Perhaps, to achieve peace, Kyiv must "temporarily" give up the occupied territories. Former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced this, Welt reports.
"If the cease-fire line means that Russia continues to control all the occupied territories, it does not mean that Ukraine should give up that territory forever," he clarified.
According to him, Ukraine must receive a security guarantee in exchange for the temporary concession of the territory. He added that it could be NATO membership but also other ways of arming and supporting Ukrainians.
"We need a cease-fire line, and of course, that line should ideally include all the territories now controlled by Russia. However, we see this will not be very realistic shortly," Stoltenberg added.
