The European Union plans to block Chinese companies for the first time regarding sanctions against Russia. Such measures could be taken as part of the 15th package of sanctions, which European powers began discussing on November 27.
One famous Chinese businessperson and six other companies may appear on the blacklist. The specific reason for the alleged blocklisting of the companies is still unclear.
Previously, Chinese companies or individuals from the PRC appeared only on the EU's gray list; that is, on the list of companies that require additional supervision and impose sanctions against 45 Russian oil tankers, 50 individuals, and 40 entities, Europe's attitude towards China may change.
