Georgia will join the EU at the end of 2028, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze announced.
"We have decided not to put the issue of starting negotiations with the European Union on the agenda until the end of 2028. We also refuse the EU budget and any grants," said the Prime Minister.
At the same time, Kobakhidze claimed that Georgia would be ready economically by the end of 2028 to start negotiations on joining the EU, which would happen by 2030.
"At this stage, the start of negotiations on EU membership is being used as a tool to blackmail the country, which is unacceptable. "It is unacceptable to see integration into the European Union as a mercy," he said.
Let us remind you that the European Parliament approved a document with a majority of votes, which does not recognize the legitimacy of the parliamentary elections held on October 26. The resolution also calls for new elections to be held within a year.
