After his official visit to Armenia, Polish President Andrzej Duda summarized the results and touched on several important topics.
According to the President of Poland, he had a telephone conversation with Aliyev before arriving in Armenia. "Two weeks ago, I had a private conversation with the President of Azerbaijan, Aliyev, and we also talked about the issues of relations with Armenia. At that time, I told the president that I would arrive in Armenia on an official visit and asked him to present his point of view on the conflict issues being decided here recently," said the Polish president.
The president also discussed the role of the EU observation mission and noted that its task is challenging as it tries to establish control over the about 1000 km long Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
"Comparing what happened before the mission's arrival or at the time of the mission's arrival and what we have now, it is clear that in many places where we were dealing with constant shelling, primarily at infrastructure, that shelling has stopped. Because of the continuous arrival of EU representatives in those places. So, from this point of view, the mission was successful.
We participate in that mission and are considering increasing the number of our representatives in that mission," said Andrzej Duda.
