Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan gave a speech at the opening of the ministerial meeting of the United Nations Group of Friends of Civilizations (UN) bloc in Portugal.
"Crimes against humanity cannot go unpunished. If justice is not restored, this situation will create a generational gap that will hinder the chances of establishing peace in the Middle East," he said.
According to Fidan, the vision of the Alliance of Civilizations at a time when the international system is highly fragmented by ongoing wars, especially in the Middle East, is under increasing attack on all fronts.
"At such a critical moment, the Alliance needs to speak louder than ever to ensure its message is heard loud and clear. That's why it needs to be stronger, more visible, and more effective in addressing all the issues that hinder dialogue and mutual understanding," the Turkish minister noted.
