Russia cooperates with Yemen's Houthis

Russia cooperates with Yemen's Houthis to recruit soldiers for the war in Ukraine, reports the Financial Times.

According to the report, Russia has recruited hundreds of men from Yemen to participate in the war against Ukraine, some of them allegedly by deception or coercion. Men were offered well-paid jobs in Russia and then tricked into being sent to the front.

A company linked to the Houthis is behind the system, which has the characteristics of human trafficking. This company organized trips to Russia where the men were given documents under threat of violence, which they were forced to sign without understanding the Russian language. In addition to such soldiers, Russia is reported to have recruited many mercenaries from Yemen.
