The first high-ranking North Korean general was wounded in the Kursk region. WSJ

A high-ranking North Korean general was injured in the attack of Storm Shadow missiles on the town of Maryino in the Kursk region, reports The Wall Street Journal, citing Western officials. This is the first time that Western officials have confirmed the wounding of a high-ranking North Korean military official in Russia.

Western officials have not disclosed the circumstances surrounding the wounding of the senior North Korean military officer nor his identity. North Korea's mission to the United Nations did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the strike described in Western intelligence reports.

Pyongyang is known to have sent a senior officer, Colonel General Kim Yong Bok, to Russia to oversee the DPRK's efforts to coordinate operations with Russia.
