At least 36 people were killed, and 50 others were injured as a result of Israeli airstrikes on residential houses and an industrial zone in the Syrian city of Palmyra. Syrian state media reports.
The UK-based Syrian Center for Human Rights reports 41 casualties, more than half of whom are foreign nationals, with three districts of Palmyra hit. One of them is inhabited by the families of the fighters of the Syrian Hezbollah group and other pro-Iranian movements; the other was an armory; and the third was a headquarters intended for meetings of the leaders of various pro-Iranian groups, including the Iraqi Nujaba.
The Sana news agency, citing a military source, said that Israeli jets attacked Syrian territory on the Jordanian side of the border at around 1:30 p.m. local time and caused significant damage to infrastructure.
Israel has said it does not comment on foreign reports.
